1928
JPMorganChase predecessors helped athletes on and off the field
Babe Ruth was a client of several of our JPMorganChase predecessors. In 1928, he established a trust fund with The Bank of The Manhattan Company that would assure him of an income for the rest of his life of at least $10,000 a year.
1980
Chase Bank sponsors Colgate Masters
In 1978, Chase Manhattan Bank began sponsoring the Colgate Masters, often referred to as the World Series of Tennis. The tennis championship was the culmination of Colgate-Palmolive Co.’s year-long series of 75 Colgate Grand Prix tournaments throughout the world.
1967
Chase Manhattan helped finance every part of the film industry
Chase Manhattan Bank supported the movie industry since the beginning in the early 20th century. The bank offered direct loans to large production and distribution companies and independent producers.
1982
Chemical Bank’s Entertainment Industry Group
Throughout the 20th century, Chemical Bank and it’s predecessors worked closely with entertainment industry clients. In 1981, it officially established the Entertainment Industries Group (EIG), opening a Los Angeles office for the group in 1986.
1990
Valley National Bank Phoenix Raceway Sponsorship
Long before JPMorganChase was sponsoring the F1 Miami Grand Prix, Arizona predecessor Valley National Bank saw the importance of motorsport. In 1990 they began advertising all over the Phoenix International Raceway and the Tucson Raceway Park. In 1967, the bank hosted Mario Andretti and his USAC championship-winning car.
